How to Properly Dispose of an Expired Notary Stamp

How to Properly Dispose of an Expired Stamp

When your commission expires, it's imperative to properly dispose your expired notary stamp to ensure that no one steals your information. We suggest you to take the following steps when disposing of your notary stamp:

  • Remove the rubber from the base of your stamp. If it is difficult to remove, tweezers or pliers can be used.
  • Cut the rubber into several pieces with scissors to ensure that it is properly destroyed.
  • Throw the pieces of rubber polymer away. You may want to use different garbage bins to make sure no one can put them together and use them.

If you are unsure of the best way to dispose of your expired products, please feel free to send them back to Budget Notary. We are happy to dispose of the products for you, free of charge!

NOTE: Texas notaries are asked by the Secretary of State to destroy their notary stamp when the commission has expired. Florida notaries must destroy their seal unless the Governor requests that you return it.
